Eiropas jaunumi

The European Commission has published a new report on the sustainability of solid and gaseous biomass for heat and electricity generation, in the context of the EU's 2020 renewable energy targets.
The analysis confirms that a vast majority of the biomass and biogas used to achieve the EU's 20% renewable energy target will provide significant greenhouse gas emissions savings. The review also indicates existing and planned actions at EU-level to maximise the sustainability benefits of biomass use in the energy sector, while minimising or avoiding negative effects.
